The Casio StoryWith the of it is initial watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just came upon digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic engineering devised for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field convinced that it could create timepieces that would lead the market.

In devising it is own wristwatches Casio begun with the basic question, ""What is a wristwatch?"" Rather than plainly making a digital version of the traditionalisti mechanical watch, we thought that the idealisti wristwatch must be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was competent to formulate a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month — not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the introductory watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that eradicated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a traditionalisti watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world’s original digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a finish departure from the traditionalisti wristwatch.

Casio transformed the conception of the watch — from a mere timepiece to an info device for the wrist — and undertook product planning based on this progressed idea. We invented not only time functions such as time zone watches, but likewise other radical new functions using Casio’s own digital technology, including calculator and dictionary functions, as well as a phonebook feature based on memory technology, and even a thermometer function using a built-in sensor. The memory-function watches became our DATA BANK product series, while the sensor watches developed into two distinctive Casio product lines of today: the Pathfinder series displaying altitude, atmospheric pressure, and compass readings.

In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch. This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewelry that needs to be handled with care, and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world’s toughest watch. Using a triple-protection design for the parts, module, and case, the G-SHOCK offered a radical new type of watch that was unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. Its practicality was without delay recognized, and it is distinguishable look, which embodied it is functionality, became wildly popular, resulting in explosive sales in the early 1990s. The G-SHOCK soon adopted respective new sensors, solar-powered radio-controlled engineering (described below), and new materials for even better durability. By always employing the latest technology, and continuing to transcend traditionalisti thinking in regards to the watch, the G-SHOCK brand has become Casio’s flagship timepiece product.

Today, Casio is focusing it is attempts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery does away with the botheration of replacing batteries, and the radio-controlled function means users never have to reset the time. In particular, the radio-controlled function represents a revolution in time-keeping technology similar to the affect invented when mechanical watches gave way to quartz technology. Through the further development of high radio-wave sensitivity, miniaturization, and bettered energy efficiency, Casio proceeds to give rise to a whole range of radio-controlled models.

By Richard Holden
I in truth saw this watch at Costco, but decisive to exploration it a little more on line before buying it. I was capable to get it on Amazon for with regards to 8 dolls. for less than Costco; regarding 46 dolls. for less than retail.
At $62 dolls. this is a actually good watch. I genuinely love the independent stop watch feature that it has, as well as how the minutes and hours are also counted.
The price of this watch is determined by the depth that you may use it. This watch is statically tested at 100m or 10 bars. I thought that it was perfect, because I never dive deeper than 100 ft., but I found out through exploration after the buy, that 100m in real life translates to being capable to use it in a pool only.
But, for the money, the styling and the features, this watch isn't going to be beat on the market. The resin band is also much more comfortable than something like a G-shock.
I wear it every day and I love it so far.

For my every day type watches, I normally wear dissimilar variations of the Citizen Skyhawk.(Not super expensive, but still nice in my opinion) But lately, I've been wanting a more lowcost watch that I may wear on days when I'm perhaps hitting the gym, or going to the gun range, or working. Something that would be beauteous lasting (ie: synthetic band) and wouldn't make me cry if I scratched it or banged it around. (And still looked good!)

That's where I think this Casio dive watch shines. At $63 bucks, it is super affordable. It is likewise astoundingly handsome. It is just the right size. Not too big, not too small. (and I have smallish wrists) but it looks perfective on. You could unquestionably wear this watch with a dress shirt, polo, or just a t-shirt and it would look good.

Function is very straight forward. It's your basic setup for adjusting the time and date. The materials applied are very nice, including the aluminum bezel (which rotates both ways) and the resin strap (which is flexible, but feels to be nice quality)

Also, with amazon prime, I got this watch in less than 2 days with free shipping. Overall, I am super satisfied with this buy and would highly commend it for anybody looking for an everday casual watch.

ps-I took a pic next to one of my skyhawks for size comparison.

I have had this for a few months now. GREAT Watch. I think it looks outstanding and have gotten a number of complements on it. You may wear this with anything from formal dress to sports attire. It's one of those all occasion watches that matches everything seamlessly. I found this watch for $55 on sale at a local retailer - unbelievable value for the money.

The glow in the dark dials are visible for 60+ minutes after being charged.

I think this watch looks better in person than in the pages. I saw it in the display case and when I put it on, it looked outstanding - had to buy it. Buying online sucks because you in truth don't recognise how it's going to look/feel on your wrist. If you wear black or gray clothes, it matches so well that persons will think you purchased the watch to go with the outfit.

Band is good - holds the watch in place without having it too tight.
