I in truth own this watch and I am wearing it as I type. This is known to be one of the most difficult to get watches. Authorized dealers are given ONE per year (actually two, but one is black-faced, and one is white faced). The white faced is the most demanded, thence more rare. I waited over a year to get mine, and only by luck did I get mine. The 116520 is milestone of Rolex's success. It signifies the start out of a new era for Rolex... in which EVERY watch, EVERY component, and EVERY piece is made exclusively by Rolex throughout all watches in their production. Until the year 2000, the Daytona's internal parts were made by Zenith & Valjoux (still great quality, but not made by Rolex). This watch retails (at the moment I am writing) for when it comes to seven grand. If you want the watch now... you will have to remunerate over ten to twelve grand. If you want to wait 2-3 years on a waiting list (if you may even find a merchandiser who has one, ordinarily they only trade this watch to clients who have purchased other Rolex's and don't hold a waiting list) then go to an authorized merchant and do so. Be careful who you buy this watch from, as fakes are getting better and better. If you do buy one, be sure to take it to an AD (Authorized Dealer) to make sure it is Authentic. If you think this watch is costly now... wait 5-10 years... it will be worth more than a house in today's standards. Rolex increments the cost of their watches each year by 7-20%, so this watch is going to go up in value... don't trust me... watch the prices go up for yourself and see.
Along with new Rolex's going up in price... your applied Rolex does too... finally your applied Rolex is worth more than you purchased it new and you may trade it to break even or make profit... and thence the reason that so a heap of gather these timepeices. Of course... if you want to invest your money... you may find a lot dandier returns at a bank or financial advisor than in a Rolex.
If you buy this watch above MSRP, you are giving somebody a LOT of money... wheras when you buy from Rolex... a huge part of the cash goes to Charity... just a FYI.
Details on the watch - The Calibre 4130 (the motion inside the watch) is already being praised by watch authorities as one of the TOP 10 movements ever created... for it's simplicity, accuracy, and efficiency. It uses less elements than other models and is very rugged... this is a watch you could wear jackhammering each day all year and not have to worry regarding it breaking.

Poor Listing of Item, IMO

I don't think adequate selective information is being given for a Rolex Daytona/Cosmograph timepiece.
First, there ought to be a model number, i.e. the firstborn letter of the serial number. The later Daytonas which have the serial numer on the Rehaut of the watch are commonly considered to be more valuable.
Second, if the timepiece is an older series Daytona, this means it has been sitting around for a lot of time with the firstborn lubricants drying up.
Third, I think it's only ethical to list the current selling price for a Stainless Steel Daytona. My understanding is sthat the full syndication from an authorized merchandiser (AD) is $9,925. I recognise that Daytonas trade for more than the marketing on the grey maket... and I recognise that ADs only receive with regards to 2 per year, thence creating a demand that outperforms supply and consequently the higher price. However, I believe than an AD may only charge the merchandising price.
Fourth, I don't believe it states distinctly whether this is a new or pre-owned watch.
Lastly, there must be a firm statement whether the watch is being purchased through an AD, and accordingly would have the Rolex guarantee... other than as supposed or expected who knows whether or not the watch store may provide any type of Rolex level repair, which... if they don't have a Rolex-trained fix person with when it comes to $100,000 investment of authenti Rolex tools, lubricants, availability to authenti Rolex parts, etc... they may well not.
All in all, for a watch in this price range I don't think Amazon is doing their occupation in protecting their customers.

BUYER BEWARE!!

If this watch on Amazon (or any other website) is a "new" watch, it likely is not being offered by an Authorized Dealer, as internet sale of Rolex merchandise by their dealers is expressly prohibited. Prohibited to the point that one such sale will cause prompt revocation of their "authorized dealer" status. As such, Rolex productions purchased online ARE NEVER entitled for a factory Rolex warranty, even if it is a new watch. The only way the warranty could be registered from an online sale would implicate fraud and violation of Rolex's dealer policies, therefore implicating the purchaser and marketer in a crime. Rolex is EXTREMELY protective of their product, pricing and dealers and has a zero tolerance policy for their dealers who do not comply--just ask some of the 20+ jewelry stores in Florida that were axed in the last 2 years or so.
Fakes are getting more and more common, and harder to detect by those other than a jeweler who knows Rolex products. When all is said and done, there IS risk affiliated with buying a watch online advertised as Rolex. If you want to be assurred of the "genuine article" with a Rolex warranty, you will have to buy through an authorized dealer.
