Tinker Swiss Army

The Swiss Army Tinker and Swiss Army Classic SD by Victorinox are paired in this limited-edition gift set. The Classic is perfective for your key chain, while the Tinker is idealisti for your garage or glove box, keeping you well prepared for whatsoever comes your way.

Swiss Army's most usual knife, the Classic SD, is combined with the 91mm Tinker to construct a great set of Swiss Army knives that is perfective for anyone. The Tinker offers six tools and 12 features including a huge blade, little blade, Phillips screwdriver, may opener, little screwdriver for Phillips screws, bottle opener, big screwdriver, wire stripper, reamer, key ring, tweezers, and toothpick. The Classic SD measures just 2-1/4 inches long--less than a pack of gum--and comes equipped with a blade, nail file, screwdriver, scissors, key ring, tweezers, and toothpick.

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus begun what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combining of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox develops watches, luggage, , and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The forerunner of that name dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women buying goods in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor or versatility.

star50 tpng tinker swiss armyThe knife for the severe tech worker.
By Mac Clark
For the busy engineering science professional, a good knife may be the single most applied tool. The Victorinox Tinker is finelooking close to perfect. It has the critical core screwdrivers -- flathead and Phillips -- as well as simple punch, pick, and tweezers. It is NOT a big pocket-tearing monster. The biggest problem is not leaving this miniature workshop behind!

star40 tpng tinker swiss armyThe Tinker is closely perfective for every day use
By Meddows
My original Tinker model was a black one-- brought to me from Switzerland in the 80s. I employed it for years before finding a red version in the US-- at a Surplus store. I have other models, but the Tinker is the only one I carry on a daily basis. I use it, each single day. It has no affixations that I don't need (scissors, corkscrews etc are nice, but I don't *need* them) and it is little sufficient that I don't feel like I have a brick in my pocket. Tweezers are great for picking up tiny lost objects or splinter removal, and the leather punch is a outstanding awl. The only divergence amongst my Swiss version and the "American" (both Victorinox) is that the Swiss one has a Philips head driver with a horizontal "slot" gap in the tip. That allows it to pinch into a littler head, while the non slotted one is a fixed for only more prominent screw heads. I when I found I could get the Tinker in the US so easily, I put the primary in my locked box so I don't lose it. Its a super knife, and I am the hero at the office, at parties (I may open the most perplexed packaging easily) and anyplace I fine a loose screw, dull pencil or use for a toothpick (which you may buy in alternate packs). I'd give it 5 Stars-- if this version had the slotted Philips head like my import. I own three in all-- black, red and engraved clear blue. [...]has 4 colors & may do the engraved ones, but they're a few $$ higher.

Great knife for a fantasti price. We are in the Civil Air Patrol and need such a knife for Emergency Services and it has everything but the kitchen sink. Quality is tops. Love it! We keep one in the glove compartment of the cars.
