star50 tpng hanowa swiss military watchA solid watch for the price.

I necessitated a semi-waterproof watch for work because I wash my hands approximately 40-50 times a rotation. It was also essential to have a watch that may stand up to bleach and other antimicrobials. This watch fits the bill. I own watches from Tag Heuer, Victorinox, and Raymond Weil(my wife does not want me wearing them to work since she purchased them). Before the Sealander I wore an old Suunto watch to work which looks dated.

Pros: it has yet to lose time. Water has not been an issue (I have only had this watch for a few weeks). It is "chunky", heavy, and has a very bright colored face. The crown screws tight to keep water out of the case. The motion is Swiss. The luminescence is only rivaled by my Tag Searacer. The look of the sub-dial second hand is beauteous cool.

Cons: the bracelet does not feel like it is solid stainless steel but hollow (it is lighter then numerous other bracelets). The clasp has opened sans assistance. The date is very small. I have been spoiled with sapphire crystals as this solid homogeneous inorgani substance one has a very small, unnoticeable to most, scratch.

I would commend the Hanowa Sealander for any person looking for a solid stylish watch at a great deal. I have likewise purchased the green Sealander.

Update-- Still working great and keeping precise time. Water has not been a problem. The bracelet has exceeded my expected values as it has not gotten scratched or dinged. I may of been a little too critical of the clasp as it has not opened by itself since my primary post. I have hit the solid homogeneous inorgani substance crystal numerous times without chipping or noticeable scratching. This watch remains a steal for the price.

Side note-- re: the review in which they awarded only one star because of water damage. I bet they did not wholly screw in the crown.

Another Update 8/14/11-- My watch quit working the other day. Thinking it was the battery I took it to my local jeweler. The battery was not dead but a piece in the motion had broken. He was capable to repair it at a cost of $130.00.Fluke or flaw? He was not competent to tell me. Hopefully just a fluke.....

I got this watch for my Dad for his birthday. After a few months he took a shower with it on, and the watch got water in it - even even though it is supposed to be water resistant. I called the company for service, so we will see how that goes.

I have gotten coments on what a great looking watch it is. The bright orange/yellow face looks great, casual or dress. Happy I purchased it and would do so again.
