About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus started out what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combining of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox gives rise to watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The basi product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women buying goods in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

By Robert C. Ernst
I've had fundamentally the same model for 30 years. My original is still as sturdy as when I got it. However, the blades were dull.
I purchased this as a replacement, and it shows the same level of workmanships, a blades are razor sharp.

Anything "Victorinox" & made in Switzerland, is 5 STARS. Excellent quality. Excellent blades. I buy 10 (on sale) at a time, wrap them and give them out to friends/family, allround the year. It's a in truth handy gift, and even the girls response is "excitement."

By T. Spengler
This is a very solid and well made knife. The blades are very sharp and everything works perfectly. It is a little on the stiff side and takes a bit of venture to open but I'm sure with a bit of use (or numerous powdered teflon) it will hit the sweet spot in no time.
