A new wave of intellectually stringent and iconoclastic Swiss designers are carving their niche in a new graphic language. By combining traditionalisti high quality "Swiss Style" with progressed media, they are giving rise to a progressive style of visual expression. Seven years after publishing Swiss Graphic Design, we present Altitude - a new generation of flourishing contemporary designers, giving clear or deep perception into the impact, essence and diversity of the work and assessing the substantial evolution of illustration and typography in recent years. An increasing number of designers are working internationally with interdisciplinary design exercises in typography, vector graphics, photography, interiors and web design. They fetch in regards to an experimental, playful and humourous factor while sustaining the minimalist approach and precision that gives Swiss Design it is universally recognized trademark. Altitude is an expansive volume that showcases and examines current trends as well as providing an analysis of contemporary Swiss Design through visuals, texts, consultations and commentary from the designers and editors themselves.

Beautiful book By N. Hoddinott This book comes in a pretty black linen hard jacket/box with embossed red writing 'Altitude'. The book inside: spine is stitched and bare, so you may see the construction. The book itself is beautifully laid out. The work inside is rather conceptual and contempory. It features student work for design instites so heavy on conception in places - outstanding to browse for ideas as mutual materials such as circuit boards, topographical maps, stitch, inkwork are used. The compositions and structure of layout is interesting too. My favored design book almost followed by 'All Messed Up', and Illusive for book design. 2 of 3 humans found the following review helpful.
MARVELLOUS By Sebastian Beltran Altitude is one of the best (if not THE best) graphic design books I've ever seen. See all 2 client reviews... |
