Frieling is inferior to the Swissgold model
By martrom
I've used a Swissgold filter for years and have found it makes magnificent coffee; I purchased this so I could have one to use at work also. However it's not at all as good as the other one I have, even though cosmetically they're closely identical. The filter I purchased not long ago brews coffee that is less bold, and leaves rather a lot of bean residue in the cup even when the coffee is coarsely ground. My older filter seems to have an extra layer of weave in the gold-filter, and takes a couple minutes longer to brew a cup. I think this is for less knock-off.

awesome and simple

amazing tasting coffee, better than the other coffee manufacturers I've owned. I personally prefer the gold filter over paper or fabric as all the tasty oils that support to make your coffee less bitter don't get caught up and stripped away for the duration of the brewing process. Also the drip design provides for a more measured time that water spends soaking the grounds which is much more comfortable than my french press. Takes up hardly any space in the kitchen, super easy to use, and comparatively well put together. Just do not forget don't grind your beans until you are going to put the grounds in the maker, the fresher the grind the better the flavors.

A bit disappointing
By Richard Homolka
We tried this, it was hard to get a good consistent brew. Maybe there is a great deal of technique we must have followed, but we did what the package said and the coffee was weak. We moved to a Moka brewer, which seems less fuss free.
I still would commend others to try, it's well made, and possibly you'll have better luck.
